At the time of Thirty - Kim Kwang Seok

At the time of Thirty - Kim Kwang Seok

One more day is passing away like vanishing smoke in thin air
In my smaller mind, what am I cherishing?

It's fading away though the spring always remains
In my hollow mind I have no more things to find

I am here, living through the returning seasons
But where is my missing love staying
I neither let it go nor left it

It's forgotten though love always remains
One more day is passing away
I'm living through the days of good bye

Kim Kwang Seok, the singer of this song, commented on this song ;

Everybody has burden of life as heavy as their age.

During the time of teenager, they are like a mirror. They reflect their parents, teachers, and friends and imitate them.

After turn into 20's, they are facing another world and try many different things to find themselves. They have many opportunities, and hope either that is subjective or objective. They start something new with confidence, experience failure as well. However, they are still like a mirror. If something stimulated them, they bounce it back or collapse themselves because can't stand for it. They learn about sadness, sorrow, frustration, so if something similar happened, they try to deal with it or just accept it.

The time flies away, when they are aware that, they already turn into 30's. Well, they realize their limits of abilities, and feel like nothing exciting or interesting in their life but boring or being oppressed. Most of them in that age feel in the same way...

The First Light Snow

The First Light Snow Xiang Yang

The first light snow comes after red leaves fall
It covers the hills in Iowa at the beginning of winter
Just like the falling leaves, the snow flies by
In front of the window of my temporary house
It comes to rest
I sigh in the wind, I can’t
Even decide where to live
The ashy sky watches
My homeland on the other side of the ocean

Sometimes longing is like light snow, Sometimes
It’s more like falling leaves
It doesn’t melt, but it just slowly wither
The light snow in this foreign land
Seems like a dream of last night
In the dream, my late father
Came to stand with me in front of the window
Pointing at the falling snowflake, he
Said The snow is cold, let’s go back
Back to our land where the ground is covered by fallen leaves

We want to create a good poem, a beautiful poem, a decent poem, a cute poem, a cheerful poem,

and a poem that doesn’t make people feel bad. Let’s say again. We want to make a poem that

every one can understand, and a poem that doesn’t have some regret. We want to have like that kind of poem. It is our goal. We would like to keep going to our goal.

A Flower Named Azaleas 진달래 꽃 - Kim, So Wol -

If the sight of me fills you with disgust,
And drives you away,
I will send you off with no words.

Yaksan in Yeongbyoen,
A flower named azaleas,
As much as my arms can embrace, I’ll scatter them on the road you take.

Each step you take,
Where all those azaleas lay,
Please step on them lightly as you walk away.

If the sight of me fills you with disgust,
And drives you away,
Even if death takes over me, I won’t shed a tear.

A Snowflake 's Happiness

If I were a snowflake,
Drifting softly in mid-air,
I would know my direction
Soaring, soaring, soaring ---
The ground below holds my destination.

Elude the indifferent valleys,
Evade the desolate mountains,
Escape from the melancholic streets ---
Soaring, soaring, soaring ---
My destiny should be...

Dancing gracefully in mid-air,
Perceiving the secluded dwelling,
Waiting for her arrival in the garden ---
Soaring, soaring, soaring ---
Ahh-- her scent of plum blossom fills the air!

Airy body of mine floats then,
Landing on her with gentle care,
Sensing her mild love in her chest ---
Fading, fading, fading ---
I dissolve into the cordial waves in her heart.

New Shoes.

Let's hop in new shoes, hippitty hop!
I can touch the sky with my head.

I tried to find a song, but I couldn't. :(

Birds , bells and me

Misuzu Kaneko(1903-1930)

No matter how wide I spread my arms,
I can’t even fly up into the sky.
Flying birds cannot run
as fast as me.

No matter how much I shake my body,
I can’t even make a pretty sound.
Jingling bells don’t know
as many songs as me.

Bells, birds and then me.
Everybody’s different, everybody’s beautiful.

Misuzu Kaneko was a Japanese poet who mainly wrote for children. Misuzu is her penname and her given name was Teru. She was born in Yamaguchi prefecuture. She wrote 512 poems in her 26 years of her life. In 1923, her poems appeared in four different magazines and got great response from critics. In 1926, she marries a book keeper of her step father's book store, and had a daughter.
